“I will always be here at the day’s end”

Day’s End was originally released as an instrumental track back in 2015 and for a year or so I pondered on whether or not I should write some lyrics and make it into a song.
The title came about because the only decent photograph I had on the night I uploaded the track to distribution was of a merchant ship floating down the Ouse River on it’s way to Goole with the evening sunset in the background.
So, two years later I set about writing the lyrics and quickly decided to base it around the idea of sticking around till the Day’s End.
Once I’d got the track finished I cast about for ideas for the video and landed on using clips taken from old movies that are out of copyright. Sure enough I found that certain versions of Charlie Chaplin’s “Gold Rush” are public domain. I got to editing the scene to fit as best I could with the track. It wasn’t until I’d finished and tried posting it up on YouTube that I got a copyright claim against me. At first this was a major disappointment since it worked so well with the song but in the end all we had to do was agree to let Warner Bros monetize the video and I am OK to still use it.
